Program Objectives
Teach kids how to prepare easy, healthy plant-based snacks.
Introduce them to fresh ingredients and their nutritional benefits.
Help kids understand where food comes from and explore global food cultures.
Build food preparation and teamwork skills.
Prepare students for a Plant-Based Snack Off Competition with judges and prizes.
Weekly Curriculum (6 Weeks)
Week 1: Welcome to Plant-Based Power!
Icebreakers + Team Building
What is a plant-based snack? Why is it good for your body?
Learn about macronutrients and colorful fruits/veggies.
Activity: Create a "Snack Vision Board" with healthy snack goals.
Week 2: From Farm to Fork
Learn where food comes from (local farms, global sources).
Discuss food justice, sustainability, and shopping smart.
Activity: Sorting game (Which foods are local? Which are imported?)
Week 3: Global Flavors + Cultures
Explore 4 cultures and their snacks (Haitian, Japanese, Mexican, Mediterranean).
Taste test global ingredients: hummus, jackfruit, seaweed, plantain.
Activity: Culture-to-kitchen quiz + passport stamp challenge.
Week 4: Snack Lab 101 (No-Cook Recipes)
Food safety + hygiene
Knife skills using kid-safe tools
Make 3 no-cook snacks:
- Rainbow Veggie Wraps
- Banana Oat Energy Balls
- Mango Avocado Salsa
Activity: Create your own snack recipe cards.
Week 5: Practice Round + Branding
Teams create original plant-based snack ideas.
Learn presentation skills & basic nutrition labels.
Design posters or menus for their snacks.
Activity: Practice pitching their snack to a mock judge.
Week 6: Plant-Based Snack Off Competition!
Students compete in teams to present their snack.
Judged on:
- Taste
- Presentation
- Nutrition
- Cultural Story
Judges: Local chefs, parents, nutritionists
Prizes: Aprons, cookbooks, grocery gift cards, kitchen kits
🍎Snack Off Materials
Cutting boards, kid-safe knives
Mixing bowls, peelers, measuring cups
Fresh ingredients: fruits, veggies, legumes, whole grains, herbs
Gloves, hairnets, wipes, biodegradable serving ware
Projector/slides for teaching visual aids

Kids will know how to make at least 3 plant-based snacks.
